Dori & John | Summer Wedding in North Georgia
Dori and John were married in August 2021 at Glen-Ella Springs. It is easily one of my favorite weddings, and I’ve been wanting to share more of the beauty since their gallery appeared in my inbox many months ago. As a late summer wedding, their day was followed by the craziness of fall wedding season. Not to mention I was in the thick of those foggy newborn days after having my second little one, Rivers. All that to say, I wish I had posted sooner. But better late than never!
I had the pleasure of working closely with both Dori and her mom, Jeannie. They envisioned a romantic garden affair, and seeing it comes to life was so much fun. From the beautifully crafted garden setting of Glen-Ella Springs, to the the florals, to the striking sailcloth tent, it all came together seamlessly. One of the perks of getting married at Glen-Ella are the penthouse suites where the wedding party gets ready. There are two suites, one for the bride’s side and one for the groom’s side. So much excitement and anticipation happens in those spaces. It was touching to see the emotion on Dori’s face as she waited for the ceremony to begin.
Dori’s bridal look fit perfectly with the look and feel of the whole event. We love her gown by designer here, her veil by designer here, and the Loeffler Randall shoes. Topped off by hair and makeup by Bethany (one of Erin Ryser’s lead artists) her beauty and joy just shined!
Dori and her father walked down the aisle as a quartet by Bella Musica played “Canon in D.” Strings at a wedding ceremony are so soft and romantic. Live music paired with fluffy white petals sprinkled down the aisle made the ceremony feel extra special.
After the recessional, guests headed over to enjoy cocktails while Hannah Forsberg and the couple snuck off for portraits. Because Hannah is such a skilled photographer, she was able to get the bride and groom back to their guests pretty quickly. And they still have so many lovely portraits!
Guests began to find their seats for dinner under the sailcloth tent. The bride and groom wanted their guests to be comfortable despite the summer heat. With the plentiful shade of the tent and the cooling fans inside, you’d never have known it was August. The flowers also appreciated the temperature control, and looked happy as ever on the tables.
After dinner, guests made their way to the pavilion for dancing and dessert. In my experience, guests enjoy a change of scenery throughout the night. As this wedding, the progression from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to dinner, to dancing was marked by a location change. Guests continued to be delighted as they entered each space. This group knew how to party! The dance floor was full of energy all night long thanks to the Moxie Band.
