Anna & Zoltan | Lakeside Wedding
Anna and Zoltan’s October wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are. I’m so excited to finally share some of Anna Duncan Photography’s gorgeous photos from this unique day!
Since I was recovering from a c-section, this wedding day was coordinated by my incredible associate planner Caroline (who was a superstar!) Even though I didn’t get to be there on the actual wedding day, the entire planning process with Anna and Zoltan was a dream. Anna is one of the most laid back and down to earth brides I’ve worked with. I admired her ability to trust us with the details so she could enjoy each moment. She didn't allow herself to become overwhelmed with stress and details. Instead, she savored time with her friends, family, and of course her groom.
The thought that went into the personal touches Anna and Zoltan incorporated into their day is what made it such an extraordinary event. Anna spent a lot of time at Lake Rabun growing up, so it was special for them to marry in a place with so many happy memories. The ceremony took place at a family friend's home right on the glittering water. Everything about it was so romantic, it felt like a fairy tale!
Take a look at that precious photo above of Anna’s nephew being carried by her dad as they walked down the aisle. He didn’t want to walk by himself or with anyone but Anna’s dad, so she immediately said: “let’s all walk together.” That moment was so tender and showed that Anna, Zoltan, and their families were far less consumed by the details and more by the meaning of the day.
The wedding party gathered in the red house behind the ceremony space to regroup while guests were whisked across the lake in pontoon boats. They were brought right up to the pavilion and were welcomed into the party with a glass of champagne.
When photos were done, Anna and Zoltan arrived at the reception on this beautiful Chris-Craft. Moving guests and decor on boats made this was one of our more logistically challenging events, but Caroline made sure it ran smooth as silk!
Once the bride and groom made their entrance, the party got started. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner by Bold Events and then made their way to the dance floor. Anna and Zoltan expressed that they wanted to make sure guests had plenty of dancing time and dance they did! Caroline said: “I’m not sure I’ve seen a more involved group of wedding guests or bride and groom dance as much as they did. Their smiles the entire night said it all!”
To end an already wonderfully fun night, Anna and Zoltan jumped right into Lake Rabun, wedding attire and all! “If that doesn’t showcase their laid-back fun personalities, I’m not sure what does. They were such an enjoyable couple to work with, it felt like we were old friends every time we would meet,” Caroline said.
Take a look below at some of Anna’s thoughts on her day:
Describe your wedding in three words: Fun, Loving, Dance-party (sorry that's kind of cheating)
What was the most unique aspect of your wedding? Leaving the ceremony in a 1966 Christ Craft
What is your favorite memory from the wedding day? We weren't ready for the night to be over so after we shut the venue down a lot of our close friends came back to the house we were renting and hung out on the top of the two-story deck, we jumped in the lake in our wedding attire. We stayed up into the wee hours of the morning sipping champagne, reminiscing on our lives together since most of us have known each other for 10 plus years. Our friends live all over the world, two of which came all the way from Manchester UK. It was just one of those magical moments because we grew up together and we're all taking these huge next steps in our lives. To look around on the most important day of my life so far and see all this love, joy and support was something that will stick with me forever.
What was your favorite part about wedding planning? I enjoyed bringing this vision I had to life.
What was the toughest part about wedding planning? I had a really complicated wedding and trying to figure out all the moving parts was a lot.
What advice would you give to a newly engaged bride embarking on the planning journey? Just relax. No one will notice the little hiccups as long as you remain calm. You won't even remember them in a couple of months. Just let your hair down and enjoy the moment. You found someone you get to walk through life with and that is something remarkable and worth celebrating. Also, an open bar never hurts.
How many guests were present at your event? 55
If you feel comfortable answering, what range did your wedding budget fall into?
1) Under $20,000
2) $20,000-$35,000
3) $35,000-$50,000
4) $50,000-$65,000
5) above $65,000
What's something that you splurged on? Food, photography, top-shelf bar.
What's something you saved on? The venue, invites, save the dates
How did you choose your bridesmaids dresses? Lulus.com - I wanted inexpensive dresses for my girls since they were traveling. These dresses were beautiful, looked expensive, and looked great on all body types. The girls loved them and looked stunning.
